About

I have been learning Finnish for over 3 years now, but I still find words regularly that I don’t know. I have started to read more Finnish text in order to broaden my vocabulary. When I find new, interesting, and/or useful words, I will add them here to this blog. Hopefully, in time, this blog will turn into a comprehensive Finnish-English dictionary resource for Finnish language learners.

Words are categorised by the type of word (eg: noun), and also by letter (eg: E (English), A (Finnish). Words are also searchable (see top of the page), even by parts of words (eg: “ad” will find “admit” or “sadepisara”).

On Mondays I add the previous week’s new words to a Quizlet set so readers can test themselves. Quizlet is an amazing vocab learning resource where you can ‘Familiarise’, ‘Learn’ and ‘Test’ yourself, plus play ‘Scatter’, a quick match-up game. You can also print the term list and helpful flashcards. [More about Quizlet].
